Ty’s Take | Live Each Moment to the Fullest

We’ve now had time to reflect on this past summer. The verdict is in: it was truly awesome!
It’s remarkable how each and every camping season goes by faster than the one before it. I
believe the same is true in life, as each new year becomes a smaller proportion of the total
you’ve lived to date. And, with each new year, you gain context that enriches and guides you.
What a good reminder to us all to live each moment to the fullest. Our campers and staff did
exactly that this past summer, and we couldn’t be prouder.

We took great strides this summer. Improvements were abundant all around camp from our
beautiful all-new Chip Lodge to new docks everywhere you look and a new wake-surf boat
has created not only a new activity but a whole new program for decades to come. We’ve also
added new features to the Big House, Mess Hall, and waterfront to keep the fun going all
summer long.

This summer also gave campers the opportunity to participate in activities most don’t have at
home: fire building, wilderness first aid, a climbing wall, shooting sports, and more on the
waterfront than ever before. By harnessing and working towards developing skills in these
areas, we’re becoming more well rounded as campers and staff.
How about the weather? Do you remember even once when it rained all day? Me neither.
Sunny and mid-70s was the norm and allowed us to enjoy camp to the fullest.

A HUGE thanks to our incredible staff for continuing to guide, support, and mold our campers.
You all are the heartbeat of camp, and each of you played a critical role in making this summer
a roaring success. I am thrilled with your contributions and your desire to keep pushing our
camp forward. Finally, to the campers: you all have created memories and friendships here at
Kawaga that will stay with you for life. The most exciting part of our summer is seeing you
achieve your goals and support your friends in achieving theirs. You have accomplished so
much, and I hope you have learned half of what you all have taught us.

The Kawaga Nation now begins the countdown to the start of the summer of 2020, when the
cheers will once again echo on The Shores of Lake Kawaguesaga. We’re already strategizing
how to outdo 2019. Please keep in touch with us and with your friends during the offseason.
Lauren and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
