Campers & Counselors

Our campers come to us from all over the U.S. With a counselor-camper ratio of nearly 1:3 and with no more than 190 boys at camp for any one session, each camper finds his own special place in the Kawaga Family.
Every new camper gets a “Big Brother,” an older camper who guides him and looks out for him. Big and Little Brothers get together the very first night of camp, setting the tone for belonging and inclusiveness. Kawaga’s nurturing environment encourages boys to care about each other, work with each other, and have a blast together! That’s why Kawaga friendships last a lifetime.

Ninety percent of our counselors return each year, and almost all are former campers, providing important continuity. Many are coaches and athletes. All are trained as Kawaga counselors with a focus on social-emotional wellness.

There’s nothing more important to Kawaga counselors than making sure each boy is safe, happy, and having the time of his life.
