Camp Kawaga Blog

Week 6 brings with it some competition with that camp from the east. Campers are excited and spirited and wearing their Kawaga gear all over. Mess Hall has been rocking and in general just a high energy atmosphere all over camp.  For competition, camp is split up into 3 age groups – juniors (11 and down), intermediates (12 and 13), seniors (14 and up) – and we compete in hoops, softball, football, volleyball and soccer today. Yesterday was tennis and hockey. Lots of fun, great spirit.  I just make sure our boys all know that they are expected to be great sports, play hard and wear the white hats. And for us, once competition ends today, we move right on to our next activity tomorrow – just another activity that we do!!

But for the day, it is a lot of sweat and fun!!

Yesterday we started with some tennis and roller/floor hockey.  After the 6 contests, the end result was 3 to 3 overall. Juniors fell in a tight floor hockey contest 3-2, but it was a well fought game. Jack Elbaum, Keith Cadden and James Goldblatt lead the way. Juniors came back strong and swept tennis, winning all 7 matches. Intermediates crushed in hockey 9-0 – ELO, Zach Cohen, Menaker and the rest of the crew dominated. Tennis did not go our way with the Intermediates or Seniors. Good matches, but we fell overall.  Final match up of the day was senior roller hockey. Hard fought contest, but our braves outhustled and out played CM to a 5-1 victory. Justin Frumm was awesome in net, Jason Bittker and Kass dominated on O along with great D by Wyatt Eisen and Cadden.

We are off and running with competition this morning and excited for a fun filled day.

More to come…
