Camp Kawaga Blog

After a great start to the summer, the weather has taken a turn on us 🙁  Lots and lots and lots of rain on Wed and Thursday, and even into Friday morning.  As always, of course, we battled through it. Lots of fun indoor activities, including some Ga Ga and dodgeball tournaments in the Big House, poker tournaments (for Kawaga Kash) in the Mess Hall, and games galore in the Rec Hall. Yesterday afternoon we had a huge Bingo game for lot of prizes as well.  We even managed to let the gang catch Game 7 of the NBA Finals (boo Heat) up in the Rec Hall while the rain came down outside.

Friday afternoon dried up and we were able to get outside and have some open areas.  We had a social at Agawak last night – can anyone say Neon Party?!?!  The girls definitely had the neon outfits rocking, while a few of the boys neoned up.  It was a fun night and great to see all the girls of Agawak.

All in all, we have made it through well. Today while its been overcast, the rain has held off. Unfortunately lots of rain in the forecast for Saturday night through all day Sunday.  We will keep the boys dry (mostly) and plan to have a lot of fun regardless.

One announcement – due to factors having nothing to do with us, Play Hard Hoops canceled their week up in the Northwoods. Coach David Adelman and his crew will not be joining us this summer. However, David and I spoke and have worked it out so that he will be up here next weekend with maybe a coach or two, and he will be running Kawaga basketball clinics and workouts all weekend. He will also make himself available during Rest Hour and Open Areas to work with boys one on one and in small groups for more intense instruction.  While it is unfortunate the boys will not get to do his club this coming week, we still get the benefits of having Coach A join the Kawaga program for a few days!!

Until next time…
